Over the years, the concept of wellness has drastically evolved. With over 38 million hashtags on Instagram and a trillion-dollar economy, it’s safe to say that wellness is trending. In this series of Well Files, we interview five well-being advocates on what comprises wellness and why it is vital for our health.
What Comprises Wellness?
To be in a state of wellness is to be healthy in the body and mind. There are various dimensions to wellness, each of which plays a key role in your well-being. All aspects of our life reflect our well-being; emotionally, physically, financially, environmentally, creatively, occupationally, spiritually, and intellectually. But what marks the difference between health and your wellness?
While wellness is broadly defined, it is something you must choose to pursue. In accordance with a healthy lifestyle, wellness goes beyond the parameters of general health.
So What’s the Difference?
In the world of feeling good, health and wellness are leading terms that reflect our well-being. The two are very similar yet different.
Over the years the term health has been deemed as an absence of disease physically. As time went on, the importance of being sound in the mind and body was established. The term health often gets confused with wellness, which addresses your overall way of living life.
